Samburu: KWS swings into motion after orphaned zebra is discovered suckling its mom’s carcass

Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) rescued a Grevy’s zebra foal in Lengardae, Samburu County after its mom died shortly after delivery.

In an announcement on Tuesday, January 23, 2034, KWS stated its group from the Northern Kenya Cellular Vet Unit swung to motion after the foal was discovered suckling its mom’s carcass.

KWS stated the zebra died of postpartum issues shortly after giving delivery to the foal.

“Yesterday, KWS Northern Kenya Cellular Vet Unit rescued an toddler Grevy’s zebra foal in Lengardae, Samburu. The center-warming rescue happened because the orphaned foal was found desperately suckling on its mom’s carcass, who had tragically succumbed to postpartum issues,” KWS stated.

KWS added that the orphaned foal was taken to Reteti Animal Rescue Centre.

“The devoted group acted swiftly to safe the weak foal and took it to Reteti Animal Rescue Centre,” the wildlife conservation physique stated.

KWS moreover pressured that the rescue mission underscored its core goal of wildlife conservation and administration.
