Atwoli Stands Firm: Defends Kenya Kwanza Government, Urges Patience from Kenyans

In a resolute defense of the Kenya Kwanza government, Francis Atwoli, the Secretary-General of the Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU), has called on critics to be patient and allow the administration time to serve the interests of Kenyans. Atwoli’s remarks came during a speech in Khwisero, Kakamega county, where he emphasized the importance of cooperation between workers’ unions and the government to prevent any adverse impact on workers.

Atwoli also took aim at former President Uhuru Kenyatta, accusing him of undermining the Kenya Kwanza administration. In his address, Atwoli asserted, “It is better to have a bad government than not to have one. Kwa hivyo, mtu asikuambie hii serikali ni mbaya. (So, let no one tell you that this government is bad).”

The COTU boss, accompanied by leaders from various political backgrounds, highlighted the necessity of collaboration with the government for the benefit of workers. Atwoli revealed that whenever he leaves the country with other union officials, the delegations are typically led by the Minister of Labour, emphasizing the interconnectedness of the unions and the government.
