Kalonzo Alleges Kenya Kwanza’s Conspiracy to Halt NADCO Report Implementation

Azimio co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka has levied serious accusations against members of the Kenya Kwanza coalition, alleging their role in obstructing the implementation of the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report. This report, crafted following dialogues between representatives of Azimio and Kenya coalitions, aimed to address issues raised during opposition-led street protests.

Speaking passionately in Diani, Kwale County, former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka asserted that a court petition aimed at halting the NADCO report’s implementation was instigated by Kenya Kwanza. He urged the coalition’s leaders to intervene, denouncing what he perceived as a ploy to monopolize the selection of new Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) commissioners.

“The plot to halt the NADCO Report’s implementation was devised during the Bomas talks. The court petition was orchestrated by Kenya Kwanza, intent on monopolizing the appointment of new IEBC commissioners. We urge Raila Odinga and William Ruto to chart a way forward,” Kalonzo emphasized.

Expressing a willingness to resort to street demonstrations if necessary, Kalonzo highlighted grievances regarding the alleged sale of counterfeit fertilizer by the government and the withdrawal of direct advertisements from media houses.

Meanwhile, former Defence CS Eugene Wamalwa expressed dissatisfaction with the NADCO report’s content, particularly its failure to address concerns about the high cost of living. He disclosed his decision not to sign the report, citing the exclusion of critical issues.

“I declined to endorse the report because our primary concerns were disregarded. Kenya Kwanza neglected crucial matters such as the soaring cost of living, resulting in the government’s relentless imposition of taxes post-Bomas talks,” Wamalwa asserted.

The controversy surrounding the NADCO report escalated when activist Michael Muchemi filed a case at the Kiambu High Court, seeking to suspend its implementation. Muchemi argued that the report’s execution would precipitate a constitutional crisis. Consequently, Lady Justice Dora Chepkwony temporarily suspended the report pending further court deliberations, currently awaiting parliamentary review.
