Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah narrowly escaped tragedy on Friday when his vehicle collided with a trailer in Kisumu while en route to Busia. The accident occurred near the Ojola area, resulting in Omtatah’s vehicle veering off the road after the trailer lost control and crashed into it.

Fortunately, both Omtatah and his driver emerged from the accident unharmed, despite the severity of the collision. Recounting the harrowing experience, Omtatah described how he managed to swerve his vehicle just in time to avoid a direct impact, crediting the safety belt for keeping him secure in his seat.

However, the trailer ended up in a nearby ditch, highlighting the intensity of the collision. The driver of the trailer later explained that brake failure led to the accident, compelling him to veer off the road to avoid a more catastrophic outcome.

Authorities from Maseno Police Station swiftly responded to the scene, initiating investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident. Fortunately, Omtatah was provided with transportation home by the police, ensuring his safety following the ordeal.
