Mumias East Member of Parliament, Peter Salasya, found himself in a heated dispute with Malaha Ward Member of County Assembly, Peter Walunya, at a funeral in Kakamega County. A video captured the disagreement where Salasya, given an opportunity to address mourners, expressed condolences to the family and shared his history with them. The conflict arose when Walunya, standing nearby, called for Salasya to observe decorum in his speech. Salasya, angered by this, demanded that Walunya sit down, leading to a confrontation and ultimately resulting in Salasya slapping the MCA. Chaos ensued, and Salasya’s security detail fired four gunshots during the altercation. The incident has drawn criticism from political leaders, with concerns raised about Salasya’s actions. This is not the first time Salasya has been involved in such confrontations, as he has faced criticism in the past for his behavior at public events. In response to the incident, political leaders have called for a reflection on the conduct of Kenyan leaders.
